The Kennet & Avon Canal is famous for the phenomenal engineering that is Caen Locks at Devizes. In this section alone there are 16 locks! Caen Locks

It truly is a sight to behold, especially in the dying evening light. The tricky bit was trying to balance on a lock gate to gain some perspective for my photograph!

I shudder to think how long it must take to pass through these locks, HOURS! I should imagine that arriving/departing early is the smart way.BOTOX LOCK

Caen Locks, Cafe

Large pens/filling ponds were constructed all the way up/down the climb. After canals fell into disuse this are became an overgrow silted up mess. To see it now, restored and working, left me full of admiration for the volunteers.
