Portrait of male Roe Deer

Met a very friendly male Roe deer yesterday. The Roe deer is one of only two native species in Britain and I can’t remember the last time I saw one, so this was a special moment! Some very weak winter sunshine provided some illumination, but I still had to whack up the ISO to well over 1600 and pray…..

  1. Nice capture! I think ‘whacking up’ the ISO is called for with a lot of wildlife photography to minimize any movement with the subject and long lens.

You’re right. I don’t worry too much when I’m working in black & white, only in colour when I suspect there will be some serious enlargement. I was quite relieved when there was a lot less noise than I feared!
